Quiz to gauge impact of heart disease

CARIBOU — The Healthy Hearts, Healthy Community program at Cary Medical Center is sponsoring a special project to assess the impact of its program in helping individuals learn more about the risk factors for heart disease and stroke and steps people can take to reduce their risk.

In this week’s edition of the Aroostook Republican, Star-Herald and Houlton Pioneer Times you will find the Heart HealthQuiz. It is a bright green color. The quiz contains 10 questions. If persons complete the quiz and mail it in and they complete a follow-up quiz in December, they will be entered to win a Cruise for Two from Boston to Bermuda. The cruise has been provided by CruiseOne. Participants will have until Nov. 19 to submit their quiz. They can also take the quiz online at gohealthyhearts.org.

Over the next several weeks the Healthy Hearts Healthy Community program will be airing radio spots, television programs, and will e-mail and mail educational materials to everyone who submits the quiz. Participants can also learn more about heart disease and stroke by listening to the “It’s Your Life Radio Show” every Monday morning at 11 a.m. The show is also streamed online at wegp.net, Listen Live.

Late in December everyone who submits the quiz will receive the same quiz again. If you complete the follow-up quiz and mail it in or you complete the quiz online, you will be entered to win the Cruise for Two.

The Healthy Hearts Healthy Community program will analyze the results of the follow-up quiz to determine the impact of our health promotion efforts. Be watching for the Healthy Hearts Healthy Community TV show in November and December on WAGM-TV for more information on reducing the risk for heart disease and stroke.
