Star-Herald staff honored by MPA
FREEPORT — The Star-Herald staff was recognized with six achievement awards during the Maine Press Association’s annual banquet Oct. 13 at the Hilton Garden Inn.
The MPA “Better Newspaper Contest” awards included: Michael A. Gudreau earned first-place honors in the scenic photo category; Mark Putnam placed first in the sports photo division; Kathy McCarty was awarded second-place honors in both the news and spot news photo sections; and Susan Feeney-Hopkins was runner-up in the feature photo category for large weeklies.
McCarty and Scott M. Johnson shared third-place honors in the business section division of the annual newspaper competition.
In other press association business, Putnam stepped down from the board of directors after serving four terms.
