Rotary Club

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met Tuesday morning, Oct. 23, at 6:30 a.m. at the

Aroostook Health Center.

The special speaker was Speech Pathologist Anthony Briscoe, who works at TAMC’s facilities. He has lived in the County since 1988, working in private practice until starting full-time at TAMC.

Speech pathologists typically work with children, but the hospital setting is different, noted Briscoe. They work with more adults on issues from “the head up.” They work on speech and language, cognition and memory issues as well as with folks having swallowing difficulties.

Hospital speech therapists use iPads with patients that are having difficulties communicating. They would appreciate any used ones that are donated as they can download the necessary programs on them to help their patients with their recovery.
