OXBOW – Rudolph A. Michalka, 94, died unexpectedly in Oxbow, October 17, 2012. He was born November 15, 1917, in Bridgeport, Conn., son of Joseph and Anna (Polisensky) Michalka.
After serving in the Army during WWII, he moved to Oxbow, married and raised his family. He farmed briefly then went into logging for the rest of his working days. His passion was the outdoors. He was a registered Maine Guide and trapper. He always raised a huge garden and enjoyed sharing its bounty with family and neighbors.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce (Willard) Michalka; four children, Susan Bushey and husband, John of Houlton, Daniel of Windsor, CA, Andrew and wife, Sue of Mapleton, and Timothy and wife, Sue of San Diego, CA; two step-children, Richard Greenlaw and wife, Sue of Gahanna, OH, Judith Estey and husband, J. Wayne of Oxbow; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
