SPARKS, Iva, 98, CARIBOU, October 5, 2012. Arrangements are in the care of Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou.
CARIBOU – Iva Sparks, 98, passed away Oct 5, 2012, at the Caribou Rehab and Nursing Center with family and friends by her side. She was born June 6, 1914, the daughter of the late Frank and Sophia (Michaud) Michaud. Iva was married to Wasson Sparks on April 27, 1950, and he predeceased her on Jan 12, 1987. Iva enjoyed crocheting and gardening, but her greatest joy was caring for the sick. She was employed at Cary Memorial Hospital for eleven years as a CNA. Iva was a member of the Caribou Assembly of God church, and also attended the Washburn Pentecostal Church.
Mrs Sparks is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Patricia and Mayland Hartsgrove of Presque Isle, Arlene and Galen Rockwell of Caribou; and a step-son, Winnie Sparks of Brunswick, New Jersey. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Henry Hartsgrove, Kathleen Osborne, Sandra Hartsgrove, Jennifer and husband Michael Quinlan and Karen and husband Joshua Ouellette, seven great-grandchildren; Amanda, William, Heather, Travis, Alaina, Claire and Colby. She is also survived by two sisters; Anna Quist of Auburn, Maine and Leona Petroski of Enfield, Conn. two brothers; Arthur and his wife Joan of Caribou and Leonard of Hermon. Mrs. Sparks was predeceased by four brothers; William, George, Guy, and Alfred Michaud, one sister, Alice Legasse, a step-son, Rev. Lloyd Sparks, and a step-daughter, Dorothy Dickinson.
Friends called at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou Tuesday, October 9, 2012 10 a.m. until time of services which were held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bruce Blakney, officiating. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery.
