LePage administered the oath to Silver, as well as two new judges — Dan Billings and John Lucy — to the District Court. They were all confirmed by the Senate Sept. 6.
“Maine’s Judicial Branch is of the highest quality,” said LePage. “I have the utmost confidence that these individuals will serve the people of Maine justly and with integrity.”

In addition to an active trial practice, Silver served on the Board of Governors, was president of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association and chair of the Court’s Civil Rules Committee and the Governor’s Judicial Selection Committee. He was also active in many community activities.
After arriving on the court, Silver was chair of the planning committee for the new Bangor Courthouse. He is also the court liaison to the Board of Bar Examiners, Board of Overseers of the Bar, and the Lawyer’s Fund for Client Protection. In July 2008, he was appointed chair of the Court Finance Committee.
