    ASHLAND — A company safety picnic was held on Aug. 23 to honor Fraser Timber LLC employees for their continued efforts to ensure a safe workplace, recognizing several employees who’ve worked safely over the years.

    Employees were presented company jackets, watches and cash. The event was held at the Ashland Fire Department.

    Prior to the meal, a ladder golf tournament was held. Teams were comprised of two employees, with the winners being Mike Cote and Phil Nadeau. At the conclusion of the meal, company officials awarded employees with cash and door prizes.

    Roger Gagnon, the company’s safety manger, welcomed all the employees and thanked them for coming to the annual safety picnic.

    Gagnon commended all the employees for working safely over the last 10 months without an OSHA-recordable injury and acknowledged all who received safety awards for their “outstanding performance over the years.”

    “Your attention to following safe work practices each day is greatly appreciated,” said Gagnon.

    Honorees who’ve worked the following time frames without a recordable incident included:

• 25-Year Award — Arkon Horne;

• 20-Year Award — Dan Violette and Matt Boutot;

• 15-Year Award — Steve Muffler, Wade Pelkey, Kevin Baker and Phil Cote;

• 10-Year Award — Leo Bard, Scott Clark, Phil Lavoie, Rodney Blair, Rob Williams, Regan Curry, Justin Tilley and Phil Duperry; and

• 5-Year Award — Carmel Milliard, Phil Rossignol, Chauncey Jones, Jamie Voisine and Adam Caron.

    “The Masardis division of Fraser Timer has now worked over 330 consecutive days without a recordable or lost-time injury,” said Mike Cote, the facility’s human resource manager.

    Cote credited the employees for their dedication to maintaining a safe working environment.

    “Our employees have done a remarkable job working safely over the past 10 months. The saw mill industry is very challenging working environment; for everyone to perform their required tasks before, during and after their respective shifts shows how truly committed they are to working safely,” said Cote.

    “The employees have been recognized for their efforts with three-month, six-month and nine-month safety awards,” noted Cote.

    Fraser Timber’s General Manager Paul McKinley thanked staff for their exceptional safety performance.

    “The consecutive day accident-free record is nothing short of phenomenal and is world class,” said McKinley.

    “Everyone deserves a pat on the back for their excellent performance. This picnic and awards event is one way for the company to demonstration its appreciation to the employees. We are committed to keeping the safety of our employees as the absolute Number 1 priority at Fraser Timber,” McKinley said.
