Grades 3-4 soccer

The 2012 soccer season got under way recently with some great games taking place at the Riverside Park field.

The Tornados opened with a 9-0 win over the Hurricane. The Roy brothers led the way, with Jonah scoring four times and Noah adding three. Meg Casavant and Cavin Cleaves also got into the act with a goal apiece.

The Missiles gained a 3-2 victory over the Blast behind goals from Logan Akeley, Ben Graham and Karson Winger. Jackson Maynard converted an assist off the foot of Xavier McAtee and Chase Langley notched a goal off a feed by Brady Miller to provide the offense for the Blast.

In the second week of play, the Tornados got past the Missiles, 4-1, as Jonah Roy netted a pair of goals just before intermission and Noah Roy collected the other two. A penalty kick by Graham gave the Missiles the early lead, but that was all the offense the team could muster.

In the battle between the Hurricane and the Galaxy, Ryllan Thibault put the Hurricane on top 15 seconds into the match, but the Galaxy then scored five unanswered goals – three by Connor Michaud and two by Gage LeTourneau – for the 5-1 triumph.

The Missiles and Hurricane played to a 1-1 draw to open play in week three. Jenna Sargent scored off a Graham assist for the Missiles goal, while Asher Tuttle had the equalizer late in the game for the Hurricane.

The Galaxy blanked the Blast, 3-0, with Michaud, LeTourneau and Rhylee Kinney providing the offense with goals. Kinney also had an assist.

The Galaxy won by the same score over the Missiles. LeTourneau’s corner kick deflected in off a Missiles player for the first goal before LeTourneau and Michaud scored later in the game to seal the win. The Missiles stayed close early behind outstanding goalkeeping by Akeley.

The Tornados topped the Hurricane, 7-1. Noah Roy of the Tornados and Colby Carlisle of the Hurricane exchanged early goals before Jonah Roy came through with four in a row and Noah Roy chipped in with two more.

Grades 5-6 soccer

The opening week of grades 5-6 play saw the Crew and Mutiny battle. Carter Rice converted an Alex Churchill assist for the first goal of the match before Alana Legassie netted a breakaway in the Mutiny’s 2-0 win.

The Clash won easily over the Rapids as Sydney Durepo scored twice and Libby Moreau, Alex Harvath and Torey Levesque put in a goal apiece in the 5-1 triumph. Ricky Goupille found Colby Buckley for a goal late in the game to prevent the shutout.

The Sting and Express played to a 1-1 tie. Sam Beaulieu scored for the Sting and Charlotte Carrier for the Express.

The Clash doubled up on the Sting, 4-2. Levesque scored the lone goal of the first half, but the second half was wide open. However, the Clash battled back as Levesque scored twice and Durepo once to secure the win.
