BRIDGEWATER – Reta J. Ewings, 91, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle. She was born in Derby, ME, the daughter of Harry and Julia (Bragg) Ewings.
She was an elementary school teacher, she taught first at a one room school house behind Mars Hill Mountain, and then at Bridgewater Elementary School for 30 years.
She is survived by two nephews and their wives, Howard and Jean MacPherson of Bridgewater, John and Betty MacPherson of Bellingham, MA; a niece, Reta Hersey and her husband, Harlan of Bridgewater; several other nieces and nephews; and a special roommate, Pat Buchanan at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Harry Jr., Ralph, and Adrian; three sisters, Birdena Tapley, Doris Kimball and Mildred MacPherson.
Friends called 6 – 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill. Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at 2 p.m., at the Bridgewater Pentecostal Church with Rev Matthew Farkas officiating. Interment followed the service at Smith Cemetery, Bridgewater.
