PRESQUE ISLE — Preparations are under way for the annual Haunted Woods Walk, slated for Oct. 19 and 20 at Aroostook State Park.

The Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce is once again hosting the event and is in need of volunteers to make it a “spooktacular” event for all those brave enough to venture out.

“Groups and organizations have signed up to put on spooky, scary displays. What we need now are volunteers to assist in various capacities,” said Theresa Fowler, executive director, CACC.

Participating entries will share the profits 50/50 with the CACC.

Volunteers are needed to serve as ghost, goblins and scary creatures to walk around the park and spook the guests. Guides (must be at least 18 years old) are needed to lead guests through the park; this requires a lot of walking.

“Guides should be prepared to walk their legs off,” said Fowler.

“The CACC needs volunteers to work at this event. We need guides to walk guests through the woods, attendants to load and unload guests from the tractors and people to dress in spooky costumes and walk around the park,” said Nola Farley, event organizer.

Gates will open at 6 p.m. and close at 9 p.m. Admission is $5 per person and the event is not recommended for young children. For more information, visit www.centralaroostookchamber.org or call 764-6561.
