PRESQUE ISLE — Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that crashed on Hillside Street over the weekend.

Officer Cole Chandler, Presque Isle Police Department, was on patrol around 12:50 a.m. Saturday at the light on Chapman Road waiting to turn onto Main Street when he observed a white car make a U-turn from a parking space on Main Street in front of KMH Music, squealing tires as it did so.

Chandler and the white car met at the intersection of Main and Academy streets, as they each waited for the light to change. The car turned up Academy, at which time the officer noted the driver, a male, was the sole occupant. Chandler pursued the vehicle as it turned onto Second Street and accelerated. The driver proceeded through the State Street intersection without stopping at the stop sign, continuing in the same manner through the Church Street intersection. The car turned right when it got to Blake Street. Chandler saw the car as it passed through the intersection of Griffin and Blake streets.

Chandler followed the car up the hill and saw it come to a stop in the driveway of a house on the corner of Hillside and Blake streets. But by the time the officer caught up, the driver had taken off on foot, leaving the car running. Chandler heard a neighbor yelling and spoke with a resident who had heard someone behind his garage. Chandler was unable to locate anyone. Officer Brian McQuarrie assisted by searching neighboring properties but was unable to locate the suspect.

Impact Auto, of Presque Isle, was called to tow the vehicle.

Police determined the car is registered to Justin Dubois, 27, of Presque Isle, who has bail conditions and has multiple warrants for his arrest.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 764-4476.
