Market promotes County goods
A business to create and call one’s own has always been in the entrepreneurial spirit of Country Farms Market owner, Mark Kelley. The start of the grocery experience began for Kelley at a local IGA, while working through college to earn a degree of BS in business through Husson University. Kelley later worked in sales and marketing at Northeast Packaging, before deciding to explore his own family grocery store ownership.
Kelley believes in keeping small businesses alive locally, with his first store purchase in Easton taking place in March 2009. With the strong supporting community of Easton and dedicated staff, continuing the Country Farms Market name in other local communities was of interest. The purchase of the Washburn Food Mart, now also named Country Farms Market, began in May 2012.
The business has been rewarding and both towns’ support has been encouraging for the owner to continue down the path of helping Aroostook County communities continue to have a small market store, with the quality and service customers expect.
Country Farms Market has formed connections with Maine vendors to help the local economy thrive.
“Helping Maine companies promote their products can start in northern Maine and hopefully our help will allow them expand to other market outlets,” said Kelley. Offerings of seasonal produce, purchasing from Maine manufacturing companies and packing potatoes under the Country Farms Market brand are a few things the store is focusing on.
With the edge on social media and key links to sustainability, Country Farms Market is a grocery store that is communicating their own personal weekly flyer through their website, www.countryfarmsmkt.com, e-mail and notifying Facebook fans of the items on sale each week to do their part in being environmentally sound.
Country Farms Market continues to cater for many local businesses and special events in the community. To ask more about this service, in Easton call 488-9050 or Washburn call 455-8057.
