Mars Hill Pharmacy

strives to create family atmosphere

MARS HILL — Mars Hill Pharmacy, located at 106 Main Street in Mars Hill, takes pride in the close relationship it establishes with its clientele.
“Customer service is our No. 1 priority and is what differentiates us from big box stores,” said co-owner Jacob Robertson. “We know every customer that walks in and we treat them like family.”
Mars Hill Pharmacy has been in operation for 32 years. Jacob Robertson joined his father, Pat, in the business after earning his Pharm D degree in 2004 and returning to Aroostook County. Ashley Collins, Jacob’s sister who is also a pharmacist, is becoming part of the ownership group.
Mars Hill Pharmacy provides much more than prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines. The store also has home care supplies, greeting cards, school supplies, beauty care products, Yankee candles, Donna Sharp purses, curtains and Willow Tree products.
Robertson said some of the secrets to staying in business in the region include being locally owned and operated, providing a good location for small, surrounding towns and providing a personal touch and one-on-one service.
“We’re quicker than other places,” he said. “We know our customers and are familiar with their medications.”
Robertson said his store gets a lot of Canadian traffic, especially on Saturdays. Canadian currency is accepted at par at Mars Hill Pharmacy.
“Our valuable employees make the store a pleasant experience for customers,” Robertson added.
Robertson said when his father began the business in 1980, computers weren’t part of the process. Now, computers are vital and are becoming established at Mars Hill Pharmacy to better serve its customers.
“Technology certainly helps with both speed and accuracy,” Robertson said.
The business has 10 full-time and two part-time employees. Hours are weekdays from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The phone number is 425-4431.
