WILLIAMS, Rufus, 77, MAPLETON, at Caribou, August 27, 2012. Graveside services with military honors will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at Southside Cemetery, Mapleton. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

MAPLETON – American Flag Color Rufus Williams, 77, died Monday morning, August 27, 2012, at Cary Medical Center in Caribou. He was born in Appalachia, VA, on June 4, 1935, the son of Cecil and Rosa (Johnson) Williams.
    He retired from the U.S. Air Force. He loved to hunt and fish, pick fiddleheads and give them away to neighbors and friends. He was a faithful and devoted husband, and a generous man.
    Rufus is survived by his wife, Pearl (Hudson) Williams of Mapleton; a daughter, Penny Esposito and her husband, Gregg of Ellenville, New York; a grandson, Luke Esposito; a stepson, Danny Belyea of Mapleton; a stepdaughter, Linda Kurilec and her husband, Peter of Caribou; a brother, Robert “Bobby” Williams of Baltimore, MD; a special sister-in-law, Della Williams of Baltimore, MD; and a few special fishing buddies.
    He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, John and Earl Williams.
    Graveside services with military honors will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at Southside Cemetery, Mapleton, with Pastor Chris Hearn officiating.
