PRESQUE ISLE — A local man has been arrested for stealing drugs from The Aroostook Medical Center.
Daniel Hedrich, 21, formerly of Presque Isle, was charged in connection with the theft following call from TAMC officials to the Presque Isle Police Department on Aug. 27.
At approximately 7:25 a.m. police received a call from TAMC security reporting staff found a male subject rummaging through a closet/crash cart in the radiology department. When confronted, the individual fled the hospital. The caller said the man headed down Academy Street. A description of the man was given and Officer Brian McQuarrie was assigned to investigate.
Police received a second call from security around 7:34 a.m. identifying the suspect as Danny Hedrich.
McQuarrie began a search of neighboring streets.
A second caller reported around 10:30 a.m. that there was a young man laying on the side of the road, across from the transformer, at the corner of State and Cook streets. McQuarrie responded and found Hedrich at that location. Evidence was reportedly found on Hedrich tying him to the hospital theft.
Hedrich, whose address in the police log showed a Massachusetts residence, was subsequently arrested and charged with theft, burglary and possession of scheduled drugs. Hedrich was released on $1,000 unsecured bond and given a Sept. 20 Caribou Superior Court date.
