QUIGLEY, Charlene B., 90, SCARBOROUGH, June 29, 2012. A family committal service will be held at the Black Point Cemetery in Scarborough. Arrangements in care of Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, Portland.

    SCARBOROUGH — Charlene B. Quigley, 90, of Scarborough, formerly of Presque Isle and Orient, died peacefully June 29, 2012 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough after a brief illness. She was born July 12, 1921 in Caribou, the daughter of Charles Eugene and Sadie (Howard) Brown.
    Charlene was educated in Caribou schools and a graduate of Notre Dame de la Sagesse in St. Agatha. She received her BFA in Art and Photography from the University of Maine in Presque Isle. Charlene was a bright, cheerful, high-energy mother and grandmother dedicated to her family, career and passion for art.
    Charlene married the love of her life, John Edward Quigley, in Houlton on November 11, 1939. They settled in Mars Hill where they raised their family of three children before relocating to Presque Isle where they lived until 1997.
    She worked as Town Clerk of Mars Hill for greater than a decade and was Customer Service Representative for Maine Public Service Company in Presque Isle for over two decades retiring in 1988. During her working career, she also managed her own ceramics business and returned to college and received her degree with high honors while in her sixties. Upon retirement, she and Eddie divided their time between their new home in Ft. Pierce, Florida and cottage on East Grand Lake in Orient, Maine. She moved to Scarborough three years ago.
    Charlene was a member and Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Mars Hill and active in civic organizations.
    She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Eddie in 2003; a son, Michael E. Quigley, Sr.; a grandson, Michael E. Quigley, Jr. and a step-grandson, Richard Dorsey.
    Surviving are a daughter, M. Joy Quigley of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a son, Donald E. Quigley and his wife Linda of Scarborough; a step-daughter, Patricia Dorsey and her husband Willis of Ft. Fairfield; ten grandchildren: John, David, Jason, Melissa, Lisa, Paul, Jill, Rae, Bob and Jo; and nine great-grandchildren.
