PRESQUE ISLE — A local man escaped serious injury when he lost control of his van and struck his house.
On June 24 at about 3:36 p.m. the Presque Isle Police Department responding to a request by Crown Ambulance for an officer with regard to an accident at a White Road residence. Officer Kevin Reed was assigned.
Upon arrival, Reed discovered a van operated by Michael Henderson, 67, had struck the front of the house.
According to the police log, Henderson told police he was driving into his driveway and put on his brakes but was unable to stop and drove his box van into the house. A functional check of the brakes revealed that the brakes were working.
Henderson refused treatment but was shaken by the incident. The van had minimal damage to its front. The home, however, sustained significant damage, estimated in the thousands.
