CUNNINGHAM, Crystal (Kitty) Crouse, 88, CROUSEVILLE, at Eagle Lake, June 20, 2012. Arrangements in care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Homes, Presque Isle.

    CROUSEVILLE – Crystal (Kitty) Crouse Cunningham, 88, died June 20, 2012, at Mercy Home Nursing Facility in Eagle Lake. She was born August 31, 1923, in Crouseville, the daughter of Abram and Ona (Haynes) Crouse.
    Kitty was a graduate of the University of Maine, Presque Isle, with a B.A. in education. She held various teaching positions for the five years she spent with her husband, Charles, and family in Madison Wisconsin and later for many years in the “Head Start” program in Moorestown New Jersey where she, Charles and family resided for 25 years before retiring back to her ancestral home, where she was born, in Crouseville.
    Kitty loved to quilt, was an avid reader, a gourmet cook and loved dogs. For the past several years, she served as Vice-President of the Salmon Brook Historical Society of Washburn.
    She is survived by her husband, Charles of 67 years, of Crouseville; her sister, Jo Anne Petersen of Lakeland, Fla.; her son, Kent Cunnin-gham of Crouseville; and her daughter, Robin Cunnin-gham of Martinsville, NJ.
    She was predeceased by her son, C. E. Craig Cunningham; her sister, Opal Armstrong; and her brother, A. Charles Crouse.
    A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at Gray Memorial United Methodist Church, 2 Prospect St. Caribou, ME. There was a reception following services in the church dining room. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Salmon Brooke Historical Society of 1267 Main St., Washburn, ME. Arrangements are in care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home.
