Washburn school budget approved
WASHBURN NEWS
by Tomi Henderson
The SAD 45 annual school budget meeting was held in Washburn on Thursday, June 21. All budget articles passed by an overwhelming majority. The citizens continue to show strong backing for the schools and for the school board’s budget recommendations. The school board is very appreciative of the community’s support.
According to Superintendent Ed Buckley, the 2012-13 budget totals $3,933,554.02. That’s up about $238,000 from last year, primarily due to increased fuel costs and salaries. Buckley said it’s similar to the figure for 2010-11. Local enrollment is down a few students, however, the Washburn school system will now have a few students in attendance from the Woodland area.
