Miss Ashland Pageants 2012

To the editor:

This was my first year as the Miss Ashland Pageant director. 2009 was the last year Ashland had these pageants; I saw this wonderful opportunity open and grabbed it!

PAGEANT TIME  ED-NasonPageant-dc-sh-20 — After a two-year hiatus, the Miss Ashland Pageants were resurrected this year thanks to the hard work of volunteers and generous community sponsors. Aroostook County, unlike much of southern Maine, holds tightly to the tradition of community beauty/talent competitions for young ladies of all ages.

There were 17 beautiful contestants ranging from ages 5 to 18, with divisions in Tiny Miss, Little Miss, Junior Miss and Miss. These girls worked very hard and put on two wonderful shows. I couldn’t be more proud of them. I’m happy to announce that a few of them will be moving on to the Potato Blosssom pageants.

These pageants could not have been possible without the help of our sponsors. A big thank you to Bessey’s Auto, Ashland FoodMart, Hornets Hometown Convenience and Lasting Moments Photography. Another special thanks to our lovely emcee Michelle Eastman, Michael Gudreau, Susan Feeney-Hopkins and all the supporters in the Ashland Community.

I look forward to directing the Miss Ashland Pageants for many years to come.
