Fort Fairfield National Honor Society
takes part in charitable endeavours

The Fort Fairfield Middle/High School Chapter of National Honors Society has partaken in many events this year.

The year began with the annual Fall Fun Fest for youth in the community. On October 31, over 100 youth paraded in costume to the Community Center for an afternoon of games, music, prizes, face painting, and pumpkin painting in a safe environment. The event was made possible due to the support solicited by NHS members, local businesses, the Fort Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, the Knights of Columbus, other local service organizations and numerous volunteers.
The chapter also participated in Spirit Day at Fort Fairfield Elementary School. Members of the chapter painted the faces of every student enrolled in the school.
In addition, the chapter has continuously raised money to sponsor two children in Ethiopia through the Wide Horizons for Children Program. A book drive was for World Wide Books as part of the NHS State Service Project. The chapter collected over 30 boxes and 900 pounds of books that will be distributed throughout the world.
Lastly, the chapter sold potatoes at the annual Agri-Business Trade Fair this past March. The proceeds from this fundraiser will go to disaster relief in Perth-Andover, New Brunswick and the Pine Tree Chapter of American Red Cross.
