REPRESENTATIVES Michael Willette (R-Presque Isle) and Alexander Willette (R-Mapleton), along with the McKenna family of Mapleton, gathered before the Speaker’s rostrum in the House Chamber March 29. The family had the opportunity to watch the day’s proceedings from the House gallery. The legislators were very pleased to have the McKennas as their guests at the Capitol for the day. Lions Club supper and auction

On Saturday, May 5, the 50th annual Mapleton Lions Club auction will be held at 6 p.m. at the Mapleton Lions Hall. There are hundreds of donated items and services that will be auctioned that evening. This annual event is the major fundraiser for the charities supported by the Lions Club. Some of the Club’s charities are Project Graduation, Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp, Mapleton Boy and Cub Scouts and the Mapleton Recreation Department. Each year, the club hangs the Christmas lights along Main Street and the club bears the expense of the electricity used keep the lights on. Proceeds from the auction will also help offset the electrical expenses.

Everyone is invited to attend the auction which will follow a public ham and bean supper at the Mapleton Lions Hall. Dinner starts at 4:30 p.m. and the auction at 6 p.m.
