PRESQUE ISLE — The field of competitors may be smaller than in past years but Betsy Fitzherbert, director of the Miss Presque Isle 2012 Pageant is confident those attending this year’s event will be pleased with the program and planned entertainment.

“We’ve got some wonderful entertainment lined up, in addition to performances by the three girls,” said Fitzherbert.

Hemphill is the daughter of Eric and Kelly Hemphill. For her talent, she will be performing a clogging dance to the “Glee” version of “Born This Way.”

For her talent, da Cruz will perform a hip-hop dance to the song “More,” by Usher. She is the daughter of Carlos and Suzette da Cruz.

Patterson has a self-choreographed modern dance number she’ll perform to “The Meadow,” by Alexandre Desplat. She is the daughter of Derrick Kinney and Ariana Patterson.

Fitzherbert said this is a great way for these young ladies to share their talents and earn scholarships.

“The Miss Presque Isle Scholarship Pageant is sponsored by the Maine Epsilon Master Sorority. This year, each girl will receive a scholarship,” said Fitzherbert.

The pageant will be held Saturday, March 31, at the Presque Isle High School Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased from any contestant or at the door.
