Manifold makes ‘All-Independent Team’
PRESQUE ISLE — University of Maine-Presque Isle center Patrick Manifold of Great Yarmouth, UK has been named to the Association of NCAA Division III Independents’ “All-Independent Team” for the 2011-12 season. It is the second straight year that the UMPI junior has made the second-team.
Manifold led his Owls in scoring and rebounding this season averaging 16 and eight respectively.
The soft-spoken Englishman flourished under the tutelage of first-year UMPI coach Jim Casciano, putting together monster games like a 24-point, 18-rebound performance at the University of Maine-Machias on Jan. 25 and a 21-point, 15-rebound outing at the UM-Fort Kent on Feb. 7. Possibly his best performance came on Jan. 15 in a win over the UM-Augusta. On that day, Manifold hit 11 of 15 shots from the floor en route to a career-high 30-point performance.
