Take a chance for a good cause

To the editor:

On Saturday, March 24th from 9 a.m. to midnight, the Kiwanis Club of Presque Isle will be conducting a fund-raising event called “Vegas Fever” at the Shrine Building on Houlton Road. In the morning from 9 to 11:30 a.m., Bingo is the game with a grand prize of $350. Registration at noon and starting at 1 p.m., Texas Hold’em poker tournament is the game for the afternoon. Then from 6 p.m. to midnight is the Casino and Auction with a grand prize of $1,000. Like the real Vegas, there will even be show girls, Elvis, and a wedding chapel!

More details about this event can be found online at: http://pikiwanisclub.homestead.com/VegasFever.html. Proceeds from this event will be donated to our organization, Homeless Services of Aroostook, and I wanted to thank the Kiwanis Club for choosing us.

Many Kiwanians have invested a lot of time and effort setting up this event which is guaranteed to provide a great time for everyone. Bringing Vegas to Presque Isle is no small feat and through the generosity of the Kiwanis Club, many of our friends, family members, and neighbors of Aroostook County in crisis who come to us for help this year, will find that there’s many people in our community extending a caring hand in very creative ways.

Thank you Kiwanis Club for partnering with us in providing for the ongoing needs of those who find themselves knocking on our door. We’re hoping for many to come and have fun at “Vegas Fever!”
