Local players to take part in All-Star Game

    BANGOR — Seven players and two coaches from Aroostook County will be taking part in the 2012 Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Games.

    In Bangor on Feb. 22, the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) announced A/B East and C/D East player selections. Players representing 62 high schools from across the state have been honored with selection to the All-Star teams.
    The All-Stars were selected based upon ballot returns on a statewide high school basketball coaches’ vote conducted by the MABC in January.
    Making the team from Aroostook were: A/B East Girls, Chelsea Nickerson and Kayla Richards from Presque Isle; C/D East Girls, Amanda Hotham of Fort Fairfield and Amanda Fogarty of Houlton; C/D East Boys, Mike McClung and Brendan York of Central Aroostook and Matt Deschenes of Madawaska.

    Washburn’s Mike Carlos will coach the C/D girls and Tim Brewer of Central Aroostook will coach the C/D boys.

    The 2012 Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Games will be played at Newman Gymnasium on the campus of Husson University in Bangor on Saturday, March 10.

    Prior to the first game at 9:15 a.m. the Maine State Foul Shooting Championship will be held. Carmen Bragg of Washburn is representing the north region for the girls. Colton Bivighouse of Katahdin High School is the north representative in the boys’ division.

    Tickets for the full day of games and activities are available at the door. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students and children.
