THIS GIANT SNOWMAN, built on the grounds of The Aroostook Medical Center and facing Academy Street in Presque Isle, was created by the maintenance department and quality and infection prevention services as part of the snowman/snow sculpture contest that was held during the 2012 TAMC Family Winter Carnival.

Standing 20 feet tall, the snowman features a safety cone for a nose that is held in place with a metal rod, eyes and buttons that are the lids of 5-gallon pails, a mouth made of 1-gallon pail lids, tree branches for arms, a hat created out of laminate, and a pipe that is actually a bucket attached to a shovel. Steve Caron, manager of maintenance and plant engineering, said those materials were chosen because they wanted “to keep it in proportion with the body of the snowman.” The snowman tied for first-place with a sculpture made by the Mars Hill housekeeping department.
