FIRE DESTROYS HOME — The Mahaney Road home of Harold and Holly Woodcock was destroyed by fire Feb. 22. The homeowners told firefighters a faulty heating pad was to blame.
White indicated the extent of damage made it impossible to determine the cause but the blaze is believed to be electrical in nature.
“The home was fully involved when we arrived. Smoke was pouring out. Due to the extent of damage, I couldn’t determine a definite cause, but when we arrived the homeowner indicated a faulty heating pad started the fire,” said White.
Twenty-two firefighters responded, with mutual aid from six firefighters from Presque Isle and eight from Mars Hill.
No injuries were reported.
“The Woodcocks were able to get their dog out but not their cat,” said White.
The Red Cross is assisting the family, with clothing donations being sought for the husband. If anyone would like to help, the items needed include: pants size 32/34, medium or large shirts and shoes size nine-and-a-half to 10.
