Wildcats move up in Heal Point standings

    PRESQUE ISLE — The Presque Isle high school hockey team has jumped into third place in the Eastern Maine Class B hockey standings thanks to two home wins last week over Hampden Academy and Lawrence.

  sp-pihockey-dc1-sh-05  100-POINT CLUB — PIHS hockey player Connor Shaw was recently awarded a plaque for joining the exclusive 100-point club for Wildcat hockey players. Joining Connor in an on-ice ceremony before Saturday’s game were, from left, his father Larry, Connor, mother Taffy and coach Dr. Carl Flynn. Connor’s brother was also a 100-point scorer for Presque Isle.

    On Saturday the Wildcats spotted the Hampden Broncos an early one goal lead, but came storming back in the period by scoring three goals and out shooting Hampden 13-4.

    Presque Isle would tack on four more goals and win 7-5.

    Issac LaJoie paced the 7-5 Wildcats with two goals and three assists while Tyler Seely recorded two goals and an assist. Colin McKay and Evan Waddell each added a goal.

    The Wildcats’ Connor Shaw was honored before the game for recording his 100th career point and went on to record a goal and assist to help his team defeat Hampden.

    Nic Davis was the winning goalie.

    On Monday the Wildcats had an easy win over Lawrence, 9-2.

    Seeley scored four goals and assisted on two to lead the Wildcats past the Bulldogs of Fairfield.

    Shaw added two goals for the 8-5 Wildcats while LaJoie and Waddell each chipped in with a goal and an assist. Alex Michaud also added a goal.

    Andrew Carter and Christian Carpenter notched a goal apiece for 2-8-1 Lawrence.
