HOULTON, Maine — Mothers Against Drunk Driving are calling participants to walk or run for drunk driving awareness during the third annual Walk Like MADD event in Houlton on Saturday, Aug. 25.
Nicole Hutchinson is MADD’s Maine Chapter leader. “We are working towards a day when no one in our state will lose their lives to the 100 percent preventable crime of drinking and driving,” she said via email.
Hutchinson’s younger sister, Darcie, was killed at 21 by a repeat drunk-driving offender in 1996.
The fundraising goal for Houlton is $8,000, she said.
