Aviation fuel changes

IN THE CITY

by   Scott Wardwell

For almost two decades, Presque Isle General Aviation has been a dealer of ExxonMobil Aviation fuels. Four years ago as a result of a change in Maine Corporate Tax Law, ExxonMobil Aviation made the decision to turn over all the ExxonMobil locations in Maine to their exclusive distributor, Western Petroleum.

At that time the city of Presque Isle, operator of Presque Isle General Aviation, put out a request for qualifications to other suppliers of aviation fuel products. After review of the responses, it was decided to accept the bid provided by Western Petroleum. Earlier this year, ExxonMobil made the announcement that it was leaving the branded aviation fuel business in the United States.

The contract between the city and Western Petroleum allowed for a brand substitution. The brand chosen by Western Petroleum and its parent company World Fuels in the northeastern United States was Phillips 66. Many pilots and operators in Maine are very familiar with the Phillips 66 brand. What is new however is the World Fuels Network. With this new relationship with Phillips 66 and World Fuels Network, Presque Isle General Aviation is now affiliated with the largest supplier of aviation fuels in the United States. We believe the significant resources and buying power of Phillips 66 and World Fuels can bring the highest value to our customers.

Over the last several weeks, Presque Isle General Aviation has been going through the process of converting our credit card systems, contract fuel programs and pilot reward programs to Phillips 66 and World Fuels Network programs. In addition, all ExxonMobil signage has been replaced with the familiar Phillips 66 and World Fuel Network signage.

Now that the conversion is nearly complete, we invite all of the aviation community to stop by and take advantage of the wide array of programs.
