PIHS hockey team drops opening game

    BREWER — The Presque Isle High School hockey team opened up its season on the road on Saturday in Brewer taking on Hampden Academy.

    The Wildcats lost 5-4 to the Broncos.

    Andrew Michaud and Colin McKay both scored unassisted goals for Presque Isle as they skated to a two-all tie after one period. Hampden scored a quick two goals in the second period to take the lead. Alex Michaud, with assists to Michaud and Tyler Seely, got the Wildcats back to 4-3. Hampden would score the first goal of the second period to go up 5-3. Connor Shaw, off a pass from Isaac Lajoie, made the score 5-4, but Presque Isle couldn’t get the equalizer and dropped their first game of the season.

    Hampden Academy out shot Presque Isle 28-24.

    Nic Davis was in goal for the Wildcats.
