Raffle raises $950 for charities
PRESQUE ISLE — The November meeting of Preceptor Alpha of Beta Sigma Phi was at the home of Sue Czosnek.
Prior to the business meeting sisters turned in money and tickets for the quilt raffle. Mr. Czosnek was called upon to draw the winning raffle ticket. Tina Sperrey was the lucky recipient. The total proceeds from the raffle were $1,050. There was a $100 cost to the chapter for having the quilt assembled and quilted by Debbie Randall. That leaves the chapter with $950 profit that will be used for local charities.
Items were brought in for Jane James to take to the Easton School Department’s Christmas Bazaar. Sisters also voted to donate $100 to the Kiwanis Christmas Project and $100 to DJ Murphy toward the purchase of his handicap accessible van. Contributions to other programs or projects were discussed, but will be finalized at upcoming meetings.
President Paula Flora shared information on the 2012 Fall Convention, which will be held in Centerville, Mass. at the end of September.
The next meeting will be held on 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15 at the home of Miriam Gregg.
