Church hosts musical
East Ridge Union Church will be presenting a Christmas musical featuring old-fashioned family Christmas music on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 3 p.m.
There will be refreshments following. All are welcome to attend.
School concert
The Central Aroostook Junior/Senior High School Band and Chorus will present their Christmas Concert on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. This is a wonderful way to enjoy some great music and support your school!
The Winterfest Committee will be holding their annual cookie sale during the concert, so plan on getting some delicious holiday goodies while you are there!
Panther Idol
The third annual Panther Idol competition, with over 20 performers, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 6 p.m. at the Mars Hill and Blaine Community Center. There will be two categories, single performer and group performance, as well as two age groups, K through grade 6 and grade 7 and up. There will be four first place winners, one in each category, as well as the new Panther Idol 2012.
Admission will be $6 for age 18 and up and $4 for age 4 to 17. Children age 3 and under are admitted free of charge. For more information, contact Alli Wheeler at 227-6335 or Shelby Hallett at 551-8883. The competition is being hosted by the Eastern Xtreme Cheerleading Squad.

Upcoming events for the week of Dec. 7-13 at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill include: Wednesday — the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Staff/Resident Wii Bowling at 9 a.m., Residents Council at 10 a.m. and Devotions with Velma at 2:30 p.m.; Thursday has the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., Horse Racing at 1:30 p.m. and Full Gospel Assembly at 6:30 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 9, will feature Crossword Puzzles at 9:30 a.m. and Karaoke with Fireman Fred at 1:30 p.m.; APC Church Service at 3 p.m. on Saturday; Full Gospel Assembly at 3 p.m. on Sunday; Coffee Chat at 9:30 a.m., Fancy Nails at 10 a.m., Karaoke with Larry at 1:30 p.m. and Gospel Group at 6:30 p.m. on Monday; the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Card Games at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club enjoyed a special Christmas dinner and Yankee Swap on Thursday evening, Dec. 1, at the Aroostook Health Center.
Library news
The library is planning another online auction at www.biddingforgood.com. The time of the auction will be announced soon. Anyone with questions or who is willing to donate items for the auction is asked to contact Ryan Shaw at 429-9500 or at rshaw24@yahoo.com.
Raffle
The Mars Hill Rotary Club is holding a raffle for one ton of mixed pellets. Costs are $5 per ticket or $20 for five. The first-place winner will receive a ton of pellets, second and third will each get a half ton of pellets. The winners will be drawn during halftime of the varsity game on Tuesday, Jan. 10. Please see any Rotarian for tickets.
