HOWE, Marjorie C. (Maynard), 89, WASHBURN, at Presque Isle, November 5, 2011. Arrangements in care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Homes, Presque Isle.

WASHBURN – Marjorie C (Maynard) Howe, 89, went to be with the Lord Saturday, November 5, 2011, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility surrounded by family and a caring nursing staff. She was born December 1, 1921, in Presque Isle, the eldest daughter of Leon and Vinnie (Alley) Maynard.

Mom and Dad had many years of camping and fishing which they both loved. Mom lived a full, happy and contented life. Mom had many talents besides raising a family of eight children. She was a wonderful cook, sewed, crocheted and knit mittens, hats, scarves and socks for RSVP for many years. She made many quilts for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed going to church Sunday mornings and when she couldn’t drive, a couple neighborhood ladies would give her a ride.

She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn (Howe) and husband, Albert Van Scooter of Washburn; sons: Richard Howe and wife, Joan of Wade, Freeman Howe and wife, Phyllis of Presque Isle, and Donald Howe and girlfriend, Donna of Pilot Point, Texas; a son-in-law, Henry LaPointe of Riverside, California; three daughters-in-law: Barbara Howe of Denton, Texas, Charlotte Howe of Mapleton, and Gloria Goodwin of Presque Isle; a sister, Clara Porter of Presque Isle; a sister-in-law, Charlene Maynard of Washburn; 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a loving husband of 73 years, Millage F. Howe, who passed away in 2002; two sons: Gary Howe of Presque Isle and Thomas Howe of Mapleton; two daughters: Lillian (Howe) LaPointe of Riverside, CA, and Shirley (Howe) Smith of Caribou; three brothers: Perley, Kenneth and Jack Maynard; one sister, Helen Conroy; two brothers-in-law: Ralph Porter and Shirley Conroy; two sisters-in-law: Thirza Martin and Nancy Maynard; a son-in-law, Robert Smith of Caribou.

Relatives and friends called 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, where a funeral service were held 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, with Rev. Kenneth Fox officiating. Interment was at Riverside Extension Cemetery in Washburn following the service. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in her honor to a charity of choice.
