Sam McKeeman, director of organizational development and training for the state of Maine, was the featured speaker at the 29th annual Storer Boone Memorial Lecture. McKeeman’s presentation focused on the differences between the right and left hemispheres of the brain. He led participants through several simple and fun exercises designed to illustrate how people perceive common situations in different ways. Participants learned that when information is missing, our response to filling in the gaps is individually unique, and this impacts how we perceive the world around us. The Boone Lecture, sponsored by TAMC, is held annually in memory of Dr. Storer Boone, a long-time physician in Aroostook County. Kimberly Smith from the Presque Isle Historical Society shared Dr. Boone’s story as well as photos from his life. Dr. William Bergen, an osteopathic physician who practiced for many years in Aroostook County, was also remembered at this year’s lecture.
