PRESQUE ISLE — A month after a fire destroyed the Parsons Road home of Sam and Cheryl Ouellette, friends and family have organized a fundraiser to help the couple get back on their feet.
“Sam and Cheri lost their home and all of its contents in a house fire on Oct. 5. They’re known for their generosity and willingness to help others, so the community is now rallying around them,” said family friend Jamie Guerrette, one of the event organizers.
A dinner is being planned this weekend to assist the family.
“Please join us for dinner at the Presque Isle High School on Saturday, Nov. 5. Dinner will be served from 4-6 p.m. and will include hotdogs, beans, potato salad, coleslaw, rolls and apple crisp. Cost is by donation,” said Guerrette.
Several items have been donated to be raffled off as well. Those who wish can also donate items for the family’s use.
“Household items and clothes will also be accepted at this event,” Guerrette said.
Guerrette is looking forward to a good turnout.
“Come hungry, give generously and enjoy time with family and friends, while showing your support for Sam, Cheri, Colby and Christina,” said Guerrette. “They’ve been given a storage unit for the winter, so they will have the ability to accept larger items as well.”
