Movie event planned for adoption recognition

HOULTON — On Saturday, Nov. 5, at 9:30 a.m., a special showing of “Puss In Boots” will be held at the Temple Theatre in Houlton and the Braden Theatre in Presque Isle, as part of National Adoption Awareness Month.

Families, who have adopted, are considering adoption or who care for children waiting to be adopted are invited to attend. Admission to the movie is free.

Each year, November is recognized as National Adoption Awareness Month, with the focus on adoption of children in foster care.  There are currently 416 children in Maine waiting for an adoptive home. People in Aroostook County who are part of the statewide Maine Adoption Awareness Month Committee have planned this event for those children who have found a permanent home and those waiting to be adopted.

Families interested in finding out more about adoption can contact an adoption and/or licensing worker by calling DHHS in Houlton at 532-5000 or Caribou at 493-4000.
