PRESQUE ISLE — A Fort Fairfield man remains hospitalized, following a Sunday night automobile accident.

“On Oct. 23 around 11:14 p.m., the Presque Isle Police Department received a 9-1-1 call of a single-vehicle crash on Maysville Street,” said Investigating Officer Cole Chandler.

Upon arrival, Chandler, assisted by Officer Peter Johnson, determined Kurt Parks, 48, of Fort Fairfield, was traveling west on Maysville in a black 1992 Chevy Camaro, when Parks apparently lost control and crashed.

“As Mr. Parks was approaching the corner near the intersection of North and Maysville streets, he lost control of his vehicle, drove into the oncoming travel lane and struck the guardrail,” said Chandler.

Parks was the sole occupant of his vehicle at the time of the crash and was not wearing a seatbelt. Officers report that speed was a factor and investigation of the crash continues.

“As the result of the crash, Mr. Parks sustained serious injuries. Crown Ambulance transported Mr. Parks to The Aroostook Medical Center. He was later taken by Life Flight to the Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor,” said Chandler.

A spokesperson at EMMC had no additional information on Parks’ condition at press time.

The street was temporarily closed following the accident, with Johnson assigned to reconstruct the crash. Impact Auto was called to remove the vehicle.

Also assisting Chandler were: Presque Isle Fire Department, PIPD Officers Kevin Reed and Larry Fickett, as well as Sgt. Shawn Newell of the Fort Fairfield Police Department, who notified Parks’ family of the accident.
