Wildcats beat Vikings to end regular season

The regular high school soccer season came to a close as of Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Recapping the girls and boys matches played on that day:

Fort Kent 5, Ashland 3 — Brooke LaBelle of Ashland scored a goal in a 5-3 loss to Fort Kent to become the school’s all-time leading goal scorer with 58.

Ashland finishes the year at 2-10-2.

Shea Craig and Anna Paradis scored one goal each for the Hornets and Kayla Cote added an assist. Macie Bellanceau made five saves on 10 shots.

Easton 7, LCS/MSSM 2 — At Easton, Carla Halvorson had three goals and an assist as Easton wrapped up its regular season with a victory.

Kylee Carter scored twice for the 8-5-1 Bears, while Cassie Buck and Ariana Babineau each scored a goal and Meghan Frank contributed an assist.

Kennedi Smith and Mariah Williams each scored for 2-10-2 Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Haley Ambrose stopped all eight shots she faced for Easton. Jordan Hopkins saves 18 of 25 shots for Limestone.

Presque Isle 5, Caribou 1 — In Presque Isle, The Wildcats spotted the Vikings a 1-0 lead after Chad Caverhill blasted a direct kick into the goal less than a minute into the contest.

Presque Isle would come back thanks to Wilder York’s two goals and two assists and Isaac LaJoie’s two goals and an assist.

Presque Isle wound up 12-1-1 while Caribou finished the regular season at 5-7-2.

York tied it with 5:45 left in the first half by converting a LaJoie rebound and Jake Player gave the Wildcats the lead for good with a penalty kick following a handball 13 seconds into the second half. Ben Nickerson had an assist and Andrew Kofstad made four saves.

Matt Manter made 14 saves for Caribou.

Easton 4, LCS/MSSM 1 — At Easton, Holden Turner scored two goals and chipped in an assist as Easton picked up its 12th win.

Jared Hafford and Reid Clark each tallied a goal for Easton. Ian Sotomayer contributed an assist.

Tyler Morgan had the lone goal for Limestone.

Cody Thompson made 6 saves on 11 shots for the 12-2-0 Bears and Bret Butler made 17 saves on 33 shots for the 2-10-2 Eagles.

Fort Kent 8, Ashland 0 — At Fort Kent, Abraham Desjardins scored a goal and had two assists as the Warriors earned their seventh win.

Antonio Naranja and Tito Naranja each netted two goals for Fort Kent.

Cody Plourde made 4 saves on 11 shots for 7-6-1 Fort Kent and Jaime Dozier made 16 saves on 38 shots for 4-10-0 Ashland.
