Support for Occupy Wall Street
To the editor:
We at the Peace and Justice Center of Northern Maine have been following the events that originated as “Occupy Wall Street” and have spread throughout the world.
That includes movements in Portland, Augusta and Bangor, right here in Maine.
We support this effort to demonstrate that “the 99 percent” do not support the current economic and financial system in this country, a system which has widened the gap between the hyper-wealthy and the rest of us, and made life worse for many, while the few indulge themselves.
We, as individuals, have considered a local action and would like to invite a broader group of the local 99 percent to participate in its design and planning.
