Open gym

The Fort Fairfield Community Center Gymnasium and game room are open to the public for drop-in free play on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6-8:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 12-4 p.m.

The Community Center is also open each day after school from 2:30-5 p.m., for drop-in basketball and game room activities through Monday, November 14 (middle school basketball begins). The community center will be closed on October 30, 31 and November 1 (sealing the gym floor) and November 7 and 8 (elections).

These hours are subject to change as needed. There is no charge to participate in open gym.

Co-ed volleyball

Co-ed volleyball for individuals high school age and older is held at the Fort Fairfield Community Center Gymnasium every Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m., except October 30 (closed to seal the gym floor). Play is informal with teams being selected each night from all those in attendance. There is no charge to participate and all are welcome to attend.

Adult basketball

The Fort Fairfield Community Center Gymnasium is open for drop-in adult basketball (18 and over) on Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. Teams are selected each night from all those in attendance. If there is sufficient interest amongst the players an adult league may be established to include scheduled games.

Ladies basketball

The community center gymnasium will be open for ladies basketball on Monday evenings from 6-8 p.m., starting on November 14. Ladies of all ages are welcome to come and participate. Play is informal with teams being selected each night from all those in attendance.

Introduction to basketball

The Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department is offering an introduction to basketball program for boys and girls in kindergarten and grade one beginning on Saturday, December 3 from 1-2 p.m., at the community center and will continue through Saturday, December 31.

The intent of this program is to teach the very basic fundamentals and skills of the game of basketball to the participants in a fun filled manner. Adult volunteers are encouraged to help coach the kids so if you are interested, please contact the parks and recreation department at 472-3882.  Registration forms will be available at the community center or at school starting November 28.

Pee wee and youth basketball

Pee wee basketball for boys and girls in grades 2 and 3 and youth basketball for boys and girls in grades 4-6 will get underway on Saturday, Nov. 5 with basketball clinics being held at the community center gymnasium. The youth basketball clinic for grades 4-6 will be from 9-10:30 a.m., followed by a pee wee basketball clinic for grades 2-3 from 10:30 a.m.-12 noon. After the clinic on Nov. 5, teams will be selected from all those who have registered and games or practices will be held Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings for the youth players in grades 4-6 and Saturday afternoons and Tuesday evenings for the pee-wee players in grades 2 and 3. Both the pee wee and youth basketball programs will continue play through the end of Jan. 2012.

Registration forms are available at school or you may pick one up at the Community Center. There is no charge to participate. If any adults are interested in helping to coach one of the pee-wee or youth teams this season, please contact the Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department at 472-3882.

Indoor walking and jogging

The Fort Fairfield Community Center Gymnasium is open to the public for walking, jogging, and exercising Monday through Friday from 6 a.m.-12 noon (except on holidays). The community center will be closed for all activities Oct. 30, 31 and November 1 (sealing the gym floor) and November 7 and 8 (elections). These hours are subject to change as needed and will be posted. There is no charge to participate.

G-Force laser tag

Laser tag will be held at the Fort Fairfield Community Center on the following Saturdays from 4-8 p.m. (4-6 p.m. for boys and girls in grades 2-8 and 6-8 p.m. for grades 6 and up): Nov. 19, Jan. 14 and March 24. The cost is $3 per game or $10 for a two-hour session.

Cross-country ski rentals

The Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department will be renting out cross-country ski packages again this winter. Equipment will be made available starting the first week of Dec. The cost to rent a complete package for the entire winter is $25 for the first family member and $20 for each additional family member who wishes to rent equipment.  More information will be forthcoming in the near future on the ski rental program and the youth ski programs scheduled for this winter.

Please return uniforms

We are missing several uniforms that have not yet been returned from programs and activities held this summer and fall. If you still have any uniforms that belong to the parks and recreation department, please return them either to the community center or the Fort Fairfield Town Office.
