PRESQUE ISLE — A local woman received minor injuries Oct. 10 when her vehicle struck a piece of farm equipment on the Houlton Road.
The Presque Isle Police Department received a call via 9-1-1 reporting a personal injury accident on Route 1 just south of the weigh station at around 7:22 p.m. Sgt. Joey Seeley responded to investigate. Crown Ambulance and the Presque Isle Fire Department also responded.
“Helen B. Palmer, 79, of Presque Isle, was traveling north in a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire when the accident occurred. Palmer didn’t see a 2010 Case windrower being operated by Travis McDonald, 22, of Mars Hill, in the southbound lane,” said Seeley.
Palmer did not see the farm machinery partially in her lane and struck the equipment, causing extensive damage to the front and driver’s side of her vehicle.
“Palmer did not see the piece of machinery was in her lane. It wasn’t properly lit,” Seeley said.
Palmer sustained minor injuries from broken glass but refused treatment.
The farm equipment is owned by BD Grass and Sons and was insured.
Seeley did not indicate if there would be any charges.
