PRESQUE ISLE – Shirley Velasquez, 56, died unexpectedly on October 12, 2011, at her residence in Presque Isle. She was born in Presque Isle on Oct. 17, 1954, the daughter of Willis J. and Anna (Archer) Tompkins Sr.

She is survived by her husband, Jose Velasquez of Presque Isle; three sons: Jerry Haralson and his wife, Dawn of North Smithfield, RI, Jamie Haralson of Tucson, Arizona, and Bobby Nightingale of Warren; grandchildren: Vaughn Haralson of RI, Patience Nightingale, Serenity Nightingale, Lucas and Lance Garcia, all of Presque Isle; a brother, Willis Tompkins and his wife, Bonnie of Madison, Wisconsin; two nephews: Judson Tompkins of Canada and Dale Denbow of Atlanta, GA; a niece, Jodie Tompkins of Portland; a great-niece, Brittany Denbow of Naples, ME; and a daughter-in-law,  Babi Garcia of Presque Isle.

Funeral services were held Sunday, October 16, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle, with Rev. Ron Chaffee officiating.
