Persons interested in Civil War remembrances of 150 years ago are invited to the Mayflower Society meeting and program which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Route 1, in Mars Hill.
Lt. Paul D. Dudley of Easton and president of Co. B, 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry re-enacting group will be the main speaker at this meeting. Dudley, a well-known and respected educator has been involved in education dedicated to preserving the memory of Maine Civil War volunteers for more than 15 years. He has participated in national re-enactment events including the battles of Gettysburg, Bull Run and Antietam.
Those interested are encourage to attend the Oct. 15 meeting and join the Constance Hopkins Colony of the Mayflower Society in celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Anyone who has Civil War memorabilia are asked to bring it to the meeting to be included in a display and discussion period.
Dessert will be served at 12:30 p.m., prior to the program.
