bs-makeawish-dc-sh-41 MAKE A WISH — About 50 people turned out for the Walk for Wishes event held Thursday evening at the University of Maine Presque Isle. The Make-a-Wish Foundation is celebrating 20 years and 1000 wishes granted in Maine. The Presque Isle walk raised more than $2,000 for the foundation.

This initiative represents the second three-site MSW program offered by the university. Using telecommunication technology, students from Presque Isle, Falmouth and Belfast will be united for live classes. Students attend class in their own locations, while the instructors rotate through all three sites. Most classes take place on weekends and in the evening to accommodate students’ busy daytime schedules.

The first three-site MSW program, bringing together students from Calais, Belfast and Orono, began in 2009 and culminates in 2012, at which time the new program will begin. Students enrolling in the upcoming three-site program will begin in 2012 and graduate in 2015.

Information sessions will be held in each location: Monday, Nov. 7, in Falmouth; Wednesday, Nov. 9, in Presque Isle; and Monday, Nov. 14, in Belfast.
