PRESQUE ISLE & HOULTON – Melton D. Berube, 76, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2011, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born July 26, 1935, in Winterville, the son of the late Arthur and Mildred (Carney) Berube.

Melton loved dogs, had his own kennel business and was a talented groomer. He attended, showed and even judged many dog shows in the U.S. and Canada. He was a member of the Poodle Club of America, Apricot-Red Poodle Club and the Central Aroostook Kennel Club. Melton had a special dog named “Spice” who is a toy poodle and whom he enjoyed very much.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria (Boulier) of Houlton; a daughter, Deborah (Berube) Hersey of Presque Isle; a granddaughter, Ashley Hersey also of Presque Isle; a sister, Madeline Huff of West Virginia; as well as nieces and nephews.
