PRESQUE ISLE – Leona R. Curtis, 75, died September 23, 2011, at the Aroostook Health Care Center in Mars Hill. She was born June 2, 1936, in Woodland, daughter of Leroy and Annie (Amero) Little.
Leona was employed at Potato Service in Presque Isle for many years. She enjoyed being a homemaker, loved to cook, and especially enjoyed family gatherings on Sundays. She was a lifetime member of Hayward-Frazier Ladies Auxiliary Post # 2599.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Franklin L. Curtis; three sons: Leonard Curtis, Gary Curtis, and Richard Curtis and his wife, Lorraine, all of Presque Isle; four daughters: Katherine Curtis, Tammy Curtis, Brenda Hafford and her husband, Tim, all of Presque Isle, Penny McDonald and her husband Fred of Mars Hill. She is also survived by two brothers, Lewis Little and his wife, Sylvia of Fort Fairfield, and Larry Little and his wife, Joyce of Presque Isle; seven sisters: Lila Day, Bonnie Johnson, Lois Griffin and her husband, Kenneth, Ruby Lafrance and her husband, Roger, Darlene Ouellette and her husband, Dale, all of Presque Isle, Wilma McGrath and her husband, Earl Sr. of Mapleton, Gail Feichtner and her husband, Frank of Pennsylvania; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; sixty-seven nieces and nephews.
Predeceasing her were four brothers: Robert, Raymond, Roger, and Paul Little; as well as a sister, Carla Little; and one son, Ronald Curtis in 2001.
Relatives and friends called 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services were held 1 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home, with Rev. Larry Palmer officiating. Interment was in the Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle. Online condolences may be made at, www.duncan-graves.com.
