PRESQUE ISLE — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person or persons who burglarized three local businesses last week.

“During the evening hours of Sept. 6 and 7, a thief or thieves burglarized three commercial businesses in Presque Isle. The victim businesses included the Presque Isle Country Club on the Parkhurst Siding Road, Mrs. Mike’s Donuts on Davis Street and Perry’s Mini Mart on the Houlton Road,” said Officer Cole Chandler, Presque Isle Police Department, lead investigator.

“Damages to the entry points and doors inside the properties amounted to over $1,000. However, there was no additional vandalism. A small amount of cash was also taken from at least one business,” Chandler said.

This overnight spree comes on the heels of another reported commercial burglary at McCluskey’s RV Center on the Houlton Road just over a week ago, when several television sets were stolen from recreational vehicles parked on site. The value of the stolen sets is estimated in the thousands.

Chandler said during the investigation police were able to collect evidence.

“Forensic scene evidence was discovered and the department’s bloodhound, Hunter, was employed, giving investigators some leads. The police department is asking for the public’s help in reporting anyone trying to sell televisions, or information identifying who is responsible for these crimes,” Chandler said.

Assisting Chandler with the investigation are Officer Kevin Schumacher and Det. Sgt. Wayne Selfridge, both of the PIPD.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the PIPD at 764-4476 or the Crime Stoppers tip line, 800-638-TIPS.
