WASHBURN, Maine — The 2011 Little Miss and Pre-Teen Miss Washburn Pageant was held on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 13, at the Washburn District High School Gymnasium, with six Little Miss and three Pre-Teen Miss contestants. Following an opening number to “Rockstar” by Hannah Montana, the girls competed in Sportswear, Talent and Evening Gown portions of the pageant. Their interviews were conducted earlier.Next was Emma Johnston, who was crowned Little Miss Washburn 2011. The daughter of Joshua and Amanda Johnston, Emma danced to “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper as her talent. She also received the award for High Ticket Sales.
Kyla Cunningham is the daughter of Darin Cunningham and Sharidan Smith. She sang “Naturally” by Selena Gomez as her talent.
Emily Jackson is the daughter of Brandi and Peter Saucier and Jay Jackson. She danced to “Old Time Rock ’n Roll” for her talent.
The first Little Miss contestant was Caroline Brown, daughter of Travis and Beth Brown. Caroline sang “More” by Matthew West as her talent.
Amanda White sang “He’s Still Working on Me” as her talent. The daughter of Andy and Kelly White, Amanda tied for the Talent Award, was named Miss Congeniality and first runner-up.
Lexie Barker danced to “Red Sox Mambo” as her talent. The daughter of Amy Joy Berube and Michael Barker, Lexie tied for the Talent Award and was named the second runner-up.
Samantha Churchill was crowned Pre-Teen Miss Washburn 2011. The daughter of Dan and Doris Churchill, Samantha sang “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus as her talent.
The first Pre-Teen Miss contestant was Jayden Harris, daughter of Barry and Jana Ingraham and Randy Harris. Named the Talent winner and first runner-up, Jayden danced to the “Glee” version of “Forget You” as her talent.
Samantha White is the daughter of Andy and Kelly White. Singing “Temporary Home” as her talent, she was named Miss Congeniality.
Guest talent was performed by Sarah McEachern, Miss Northern Maine 2011 of Mapleton, by Moon Dance Studios, and by Erica Hemphill, Miss Teen New England American 2010 of Presque Isle.
